What is Included in a Deep Cleaning

So the cost of deep cleaning is higher than a standard cleaning. So you might be wondering what is included in a deep clean. Essentially, a housekeeping service will clean every inch of your home from top to bottom. This includes

Dusting and wiping all surfaces (including light fixtures, baseboards, cabinets, etc)

Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping the floors

Thorough cleaning of the bathrooms including tiles, toilets, bathtubs, showers, sinks

Cleaning all the kitchen surfaces and appliances, including scrubbing away oil residue

Making the bed

Tidying up your home

Getting rid of the garbage

1-2 loads of dishes

As you can see, deep cleaning is much more involved than just a standard surface-level clean.

Although a deep cleaning is 20-30% higher than a standard cleaning, you do not need a deep cleaning every month if you aren’t a ridiculously dirty person. The recommended amount of deep cleans is anywhere from 1 to 4 times a year. And of course, in between those deep cleans, you should do some regular cleaning yourself or use recurring cleaning services from your housekeeping company.

What Isn’t Usually Included in a Deep Cleaning

A lot of people think that when you hire a housekeeping service for a deep clean, that is is a full-service cleaning and that every inch of your home will be thoroughly cleaned.

However, there are actually a few things that are not typically included in a deep cleaning.

For example, housekeeping services deep cleans do not regularly include full window washing, inside oven cleaning, or inside fridge cleaning; those services will likely need to be ordered a la carte on top of your deep cleaning. They also may not wash walls or ceilings, clean under furniture, or shampoo carpets.

However, with that said, everything is negotiable. Most housekeeping services will be happy to customize a cleaning plan to meet your specific needs. So if you have specific items that you want cleaned, be sure to ask about them when you make your appointment how much extra it will cost or if it can be included in the price of the deep clean.
